Meet Mel

As a Cancer Survivor I've battled some super challenging struggles, and along the way, I've learned that we truly have the power to create our happiest and healthiest lives. We can always choose HAPPY! not Crappy! My life took a very drastic turn when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Recurrent Metastatic Esophageal Cancer. Battling cancer has made me determined to find the ultimate happiness in life and enjoy each moment of it. My journey has led me to determine that my true passion is motivating and coaching people who want to make meaningful changes and live their best lives. As a Health Coach, I'm here to help others overcome their fears, discover their joy, tap into their limitless potential, and truly live life in the moment, each and every day.

It is a great honor to have become a Reiki Master. Reiki means life force energy. Lifeforce energy is all around us and aids in healing. When I was super sick, I had a deep desire to find peace, love, and happiness in every minute of each day. I was so blessed that Reiki Master, Sam Wilson came into my life and offered me my first session. Sam has become a very dear friend and mentor. From the very first Reiki session that we had, I felt an overwhelming sense of calm and peace, and I was absolutely HAPPY! Without a doubt, Reiki played a big part in my cancer recovery. Give Reiki a try. You can never have enough love and light in your life.

Five thousand classes is a massive milestone as an OTF Coach. My story is pretty crazy. I taught my 4,111th class, and then I drove myself to the ER. That's when they found the 12cm cancerous mass attached to my stomach. Let's shift to the HAPPY! I loved being an OTF Coach. For over six years, I trained a countless number of clients to be the absolute best version of themselves possible. The results were incredible, and the inspiration and motivation were infectious. "Big Shout Out" to my OTF Weston, FL! My OTF Weston Family created Mel's Army. The support and love that they gave to my family and me were amazing. My family and I are forever thankful.  

I fell in love with my husband Rob when I was 19, and there is no turning back. We have created a beautiful life together, which I am forever grateful. Our son, Alex, is now a Broward Sheriff's Deputy and we couldn't be prouder. Our daughter, Issie is a very driven and passionate Volleyball player with tons of heart for the game. My children and husband are the reason I'm alive today. My cancer was a struggle to them each in their way, but they all pushed through and continuously gave me unconditional love, support, and strength. Together we all chose HAPPY! Today, we are all the better for it. Each of us knows that life is a very precious gift.

My miracle of survival was no accident. I am determined to go out and give hope and bring happiness to anyone that is enduring a struggle. The best part is that my daughter, Issie, is right there with me. WeFinishTogether.com is a beautiful organization that collects donated medals and passes them on to bring courage and strength to people who are in the midst of a battle. When I was in the hospital, Blake Starr from We Finish Together, brought me a medal. I was utterly broken and at my weakest. My nurse came in my room and handed me someone's hard-earned Ironman medal that they donated to We Finish Together. Instantly, after receiving that medal, something inside told me that I can do this without a doubt and that I can beat cancer! It's incredible how a simple act of kindness can bring you such courage, strength, and determination.
